Our server room is powered by a 1,360-watt array of solar panels, pole-mounted on a motorized tracker that turns the panels to face the sun from morning to evening. Our grid-connected solar electric system stores excess power on the local electric grid, creating a credit with our regional utility provider. Overnight the server room uses power from the grid, drawing upon the stored credit. Backup power is provided by a 48-volt battery pack that is kept charged with solar power generated from the panels.

As our business continues to grow we hope to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable hosting service by installing additional photovoltaics as needed, and moving to more power-efficient servers as the technology becomes available.
